Local libraries benefit from donations in September

It’s Love Your Library (LYL) month; have you shown the love yet?

What is LYL, you ask? Well, according to Andrew Bayne Memorial Library site, “Thanks to the continuing generosity of the Jack Buncher Foundation, donations made to Allegheny County libraries in the month of September are eligible for a pro-rated match. Donations to Bayne Library can be madeΒ online or in person!”

If donating $10 or more in Bellevue, you can take home a Love Your Library tote bag, too. And the library is hosting a Children’s Book Sale tomorrow during the Bellevue Farmer’s Market in Bayne Park.

Avalonian residents can also show their library some love here.

Libraries provide necessary services beyond lendable books; they offer meeting rooms and computers as well as a safe space for people to gather. Need a reminder of why you should support your local library. This article gives some insights.

Love Your Library month ends next Thursday, September 30th, 2021, so don’t wait!

Meg is relatively new to the Pittsburgh scene but she's already made herself a community fixture through her involvement in community events, boards, and this site. She started her career as a journalist and still writes daily as a Content Director, and loves that this publication lets her come full circle with those skills - and her love of the North Boroughs. You can also find her writing on www.lit.buzz where she waxes poetic about all the books she loves. If you see her around Lincoln Avenue, she likely has her husband, grown daughters or a pack of dogs around; don't worry, no one bites! (And before you ask, yes; that is really her name)
